Hey, I’m Alicia panchal.

Growing up, I had absolutely no idea how to be aware of my thoughts and feelings, let alone communicate them to someone else. It was confusing, isolating, and aggravating to say the least, and definitely affected how I acted towards myself and those around me. Over the years, I’ve made it a point to learn about me, manage my own struggles with mental health, and ultimately, put myself first. This work is ongoing, but it’s helped me in so many ways, and I hope that it helps you too!

Alicia holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto and has worked with individuals from all walks of life, with varying mental health concerns.

My Approach

At You First Psychotherapy and Counselling Services, my practice is grounded in transparency, empathy and respect. We spend so much of our time focusing on protecting the feelings of others, being overwhelmed by fears of judgement, and very rarely take a second to look inwards. Your time with me is just that - your time. We focus identifying the goals most important to you, whether that be having a better understanding of your thoughts and feelings, developing skills to regulate challenging emotions, improving communication and relationships, or building self-esteem, to name a few. I spend time learning about you, and figuring out what type of therapy would work best for you - whether it’s explorative, structured, or a mix of both. I’ve been trained in various different modalities, and I love being able to pull skills and education from each and every one to address your specific needs.

During our time together, I hope to help you build confidence within yourself to manage life’s challenges and reach your goals. I look forward to working with you.
